CRA: Weather in Cocoa Growing Areas Through 26 January 2025

West Africa. Following the forecasts for rain given in CRA’s weather report through 22 Jan, rain fell at 38 of 75 monitored Côte d’Ivoire localities on 24 Jan. Seventeen localities reported amounts of 10 to 50 mm, others 1-10 mm. Lighter amounts continued on 25 Jan at many localities. Reports of a few millimeters have been reaching Veriground today. Forecasts show rain continuing into the 27th, then stopping for two days, then returning on Jan 30-31. Veriground localities are concentrated in the west center and northwest parts of the cocoa area.



Reports from Veriground localities In Ghana show rain in similar amounts to Côte d’Ivoire coming a day earlier, the 23rd, at 18 of 40 monitored localities. Rain continued at lower rates on the 24th and was followed by a few showers on the 25th. Forecasts for Ghana see small amounts returning on 30-31 Jan. Veriground localities in Ghana are in the southern and western cocoa areas. Expansion to the central and northern cocoa areas is underway and completion is likely by late March.

Other areas. Rain continues in Ecuador’s cocoa areas, increasing at rates typical for the season. News from other areas is not available since CRA’s preceding report for 22 Jan.
